Play with Perspective
Do you want your windows to be major focal points? Or would you rather they blend in with the scenery? Window treatments are an excellent way to accent architecture
elements and add a layer of luxury to any room. If the space is large enough to handle a lot of pattern, go wild.
If not, monochromatic tones work best to unify and expand smaller spaces.
Hang 'em High
Enlarge the visual appearance of any window by the creative use of window treatments. The trick is to showcase the window by using space to create an illusion.
Step one: Select the right blind for your window treatment. Step two: Choose a mounting option. How you mount the blind will also impact the finished look.
An outside mount installation will make a window seem wider. Also, the addition of a
valance, cornice box
or curtain rod will add additional height.
Embrace Color
The eye goes to color first, so don't be afraid to use it. You can give a room personality by adding color to a window and using the same color as decorative
accents throughout the room.
Trick the Eye
Just because you don't have a window on a particular wall doesn't mean you can't suggest one. Install a decorative window treatment on the available window,
then mount a decorative mirror on an opposing wall to reflect the window. You can visually suggest larger or multiple windows where there may be only one by repeating
the window treatment or extending it to the corners, floor or ceiling.
